A Week in Worksop

A Week in Worksop By Phil. Worksop, now there’s a place. Beryl, John and I were very kindly invited to spend a week with our dear friends Fred and Florence house sitting in Worksop. What a fabulous time we had. I managed to get lost on the first morning while going on the newspaper run, still the exercise did me a lot of good especially as it was a very crisp morning. I never made that mistake again I can tell you !Upon our arrival on Saturday teatime we were whisked away to the local Spiritualist church where we attended a lovely evening service albeit struggling with the hymns! Nora the organist selects the hymns and is not averse to throwing in the odd hymn that no one knows! A blind Egyptian lady called Safia gave us a first class demonstration of clairvoyance of which Florence will never forget. Afterwards we joined the developing circle, which was attended by 19 others, and messages flew between everyone like a busy night at Heathrow Airport. This church is a special serene place and the folk are ever so nice and welcoming. Florence is very instrumental within the running of the church and will hopefully by now be the President as elections were due on 18th Feb. We all wish Florence well. We were to spend many a happy hour within this church attending the Sunday service as well as the healing session on the Wednesday. If anyone out there has never had healing then I implore you try it, as it is magical, relaxing and very therapeutic. On the night of the spectacular Lunar eclipse (of which we saw and it was fabulous) we were at Les’s developing circle of which was excellent and Beryl was able to spread the word of Camaley by joyfully giving out some of the Teachings. I personally learnt a lot at that session as many things were said in layman’s terms and were very understandable. It was sort of my own personal confirmation. As a memento of the church I now have a quaint little bird box that will feed the birds at my caravan (feathered type of course) that I purchased from the church. I shall be naming the bird box in honor of my dear Mother and Father who have passed over and who gave me so much good advice during the clairvoyance circles. It was a real comforting feeling. We did a lot of touring and took in Sherwood Forest, Cresswell Crags, Rufford Abbey and Park as well as the Meadowhall shopping complex in Sheffield. Feeding the ducks at Rufford Park was an experience as it is like walking into a shop in Egypt as all these ducks descend on you and try to alight you of the bread that you have brought for them. At one point about half way round the lake the ducks actually patrol a bridge that you have to walk over. Donald duck eat your heart out. The Abbey at Rufford also has a lot of History and is a fascinating place; it was a Cistercian order church. The weeks break was just what the doctor ordered and the week just flew by. Fred and Florence were the perfect hosts. A big thanks to them. If anyone out there needs a house sitter for a week, please give me call! |
